Board of Education Candidate Information

Petitions for candidates for seats on the Gananda Central School District Board of Education are now available in the attached file. They may also be picked up at the District Office, which is located in the Gananda Middle School, 1500 Dayspring Ridge, Walworth between 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. or by calling the District Clerk at 986-0610. Petitions must be filed no later than Monday, April 21, 2025 at 5:00 P.M.

To be eligible to run for the Board of Education citizens must have been a resident of the district for a continuous and uninterrupted period of 12 months, be able to read and write and be 18 years of age. Nominating petitions must be signed by at least 25 qualified district voters or 2% of the number of voters who voted in the previous annual election of members of the board of education, whichever is greater (§2018(a)). In our district, 25 signatures are required.

School Board members are elected with “at-large” seats meaning if there are vacant positions of different lengths, positions are filled in decreasing order of the number of votes and length of office. Thus the candidate with the highest number of votes is entitled to the position of the longest length. The following vacancies are to be filled in the upcoming election om Tuesday, May 20, 2025:

  • 1 Three-year term currently held by Greg Giles
  • 1 Three-year term currently held by Michael Cardarelli
  • 1 One-year term currently held by Robin Vogt
